Life as an Amputee

Steve's amputation was on the evening of Monday, October 24th.  By Thursday morning he was more than ready to leave the hospital and get back to the comforts of home.  Thankfully he was released and by mid-afternoon we were back home.  Whew!

He did fantastic!  After spending so much time in the hospital, as you can see in previous blog post pictures his beard had gotten a little unruly.  He wasn't up for trying to balance on one leg to shave, so he had me drop him off at a barber where he got a nice haircut and shave.  And yes, you read that right. He had me drop him off!  He wouldn't let me help him at all.  He was determined to do this on his own - this was the beginning to his life as an amputee.

Steve was committed to doing his physical therapy. He was managing the surgical pain and staying super positive and upbeat (especially) given the situation. To say I was super proud of him is an understatement. I mean WOW...just wow!
