Need to stay alert? Try Peppermint essential oil! If you or someone you know has trouble staying awake during the day and would like a natural method to feel alert, Peppermint oil used topically or aromatically can help. Because of the invigorating and cooling effects that pure Peppermint oil produces when it comes in contact with skin, Peppermint is an ideal oil for staying attentive and aware. In order to create this extra boost, place 1–2 drops of Peppermint oil on your fingertips and then rub your temples. The invigorating aroma of Peppermint oil will help give you the natural sense of alertness you desire when you need it most.
Peppermint is more than highly invigorating and re-energizing, doTERRA Peppermint essential oil can also be used internally. It's frequently used in toothpaste and chewing gum for oral hygiene and Peppermint also helps alleviate occasional stomach upset and promotes healthy respiratory function when taken internally.* You can also have fun with these two recipes for using your doTERRA Peppermint internally.
I'll tell you two of my favorite ways to use Peppermint essential oil:
1. I love to put 1-2 drops of both Peppermint and Wild Orange in the palm of my hand, rub together and rub on the back of my neck, across my forehead and inhale directly from my hands. Yum! Super uplifting and energizing!
2. During the winter months I like to put 1 drop of Peppermint in a mug of hot water that's been sweetened with a little raw honey. You can also add 2 drops of Lemon to it. I do this because I enjoy it, but also because it's a great alternative to caffeine. I don't drink coffee (enjoy the smell, but not a fan otherwise) and though I like tea, sometimes I'm not in the mood. This concoction is my Lazy Man Non-Tea. Tee-hee!
