Essential Oils for Water

When you stay hydrated it has a positive impact on your digestion, metabolism, skin and so much more!

The easiest way to stay hydrated is to drink more water - duh! Yes, we hear this all the time, but it always seems easier said than done, isn't it? Especially to drink the amount of water we should, half your body weight in ounces.

If you struggle with drinking enough water, start small. For example, consider swapping out soda or sugary drinks for water. I know, no fun right? If you can't [or don't want to] cut them out completely, make a rule that you'll always drink a glass of water before turning to the sweet stuff. Add a drop of your favorite essential oil for a flavorful twist.

Here's a tip for my sugar cravers - try one drop of Peppermint essential oil before caving into your sugary cravings. You can add Peppermint oil to that water your going to have first, put a drop on your thumb and press to the roof of your mouth for 60 seconds, or simply a drop of Peppermint oil or pop a Peppermint Beadlet (a tiny ball containing 1/4 drop of essential oil) in your mouth.

TIPS FOR DRINKING MORE WATER:

MORNING
Start your day with a glass of water. Before you do anything, down 16-20oz of water. Add a drop of Lemon essential oil to a morning glass of water. Lemon oil is a great gentle detox.

WATER ON THE GO
Always take water with you when you are leaving the house. Fill your water bottle and add one drop of your favorite essential oil per every 4oz for a strong flavor or every 8oz for a more subtle flavoring.

USE A STRAW
If you're drinking through a straw, you're likely to drink faster and will end up drinking more water throughout the day.

SAFETY TIPS:

Essential oils are potent, and although doTERRA essential oils indicated for internal consumption are completely safe, they can deteriorate and break down our manmade materials over time. It's advised when drinking essential oils to do so from a glass, ceramic, or stainless steel container. Likewise, if you're going to use the straw tip (above) - I recommend investing in a stainless steel reusable straw.

I thought that oil and water DO NOT MIX o how can I add to water without the EO just sitting on top of water?

Great question Rudy! Yes, you're correct water & oils don't incorporate, so you just have to give your water bottle a little shake. But even when I add oils to my hot water in a mug that can't be shaken I always seem to get the flavor down to the last sip. ??
