While I know the majority of us probably prefer to take our vehicles to a carwash or get them professionally detailed we've probably all at some point in our lives hand-washed our own vehicle. So whether you're trying to save a little dough or are giving your kiddo a job to do it's important to have some natural cleaning recipes for your vehicle.
We're starting to wind down our Healthy Home Series, we’ve been going room by room giving some natural solution recipes to help you ditch the toxic and chemical filled products that you may be using and show you how easy it is to do it yourself, even if you’re not a huge fan of DIYs. Let’s utilize the power of nature! This week we're headed into the garage to tackle some of our dirtiest jobs - our vehicle(s):
INTERIOR PROTECTOR
• 1/2 cup Olive Oil
• 5 Drops Wild Orange or Arborvitae
DIRECTIONS:
Combine ingredients in a glass spray bottle. Spray on dashboard and vinyl, then wipe clean with a microfiber cloth. *Shake well before each use.
LEATHER INTERIOR POLISH
• 1/4 cup Vinegar
• 1/4 cup Fractionated Coconut Oil
• 5 Drops Wild Orange
DIRECTIONS:
Combine ingredients in a bowl. Rub into leather, dashboard and Vinyl with a microfiber cloth.
TIRE CLEANER
• 2 cups Baking Soda
• 1 cup Water
• 4-6 drops Lemon oil
DIRECTIONS:
Mix baking soda and water together to form a paste. Add Lemon essential oil and mix. Work the paste into the tires with a scrub brush. Let sit for several minutes then rinse off. *If you want to make a larger batch, you'll add 2 parts of baking soda to 1 part of water.
CAR CARPET FRESHENER
• 1/4 cup Baking Soda
• 5 drops Wild Orange Oil
DIRECTIONS:
Combine baking soda and Wild Orange essential oil together and mix. Sprinkle onto floor mats, let sit for one hour, then vacuum it off.
CARPET & UPHOLSTRY STAIN REMOVER
• 1 cup Vinegar
• 2 cups Baking Soda
• 4-6 drops Tea Tree or Wild Orange Oil
DIRECTIONS:
Mix together vinegar, baking soda, and Tea Tree or Wild Orange essential oil to form a paste. Work paste into any carpet or upholstery stains with a toothbrush or small scrubbing brush. Allow the paste to dry, then vacuum to remove. *If you want to make a larger batch, you'll add 1 part vinegar to 2 parts of baking soda.
If you're looking for a good solutions to clean your car with, I suggest doTERRA On Guard concentrated cleaner. Just one tablespoon in a bucket of hot water with a soft rag will do the trick.
