There are a plethora of factors that affect our mental health. Some of those affect us in the moment, other events last for days, while the most severe [and sometimes even unknown] causes can last decades.
The first step in supporting your mental health is to acknowledge and/or identify that you’re struggling in a specific area.
TOP SIGNS OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES:
excessive tiredness
low energy levels
feelings of sadness or depression
always wanting to be alone
lack of concentration
reduced memory
mood swings
disruption in sleep
displaced anxiety
I believe that many of your day-to-day self-care activities can support your mental health. And there are specific self-care activities that will literally reduce risks of memory related mental health issues by activating the connective tissue between the neurons in the brain which help them react quickly and function better.
MENTAL HEALTH SELF-CARE FOR MEMORY:
frequent breaks
reading
doing a puzzle
playing games (yes, even video games)
listening to podcasts
Although the mental illness statistics show that nearly 20% of American adults are experiencing one form of mental illness or another, the fact is not all mental health issues are “illnesses.” You know me, I love my natural solutions. So, I want to share some essential oils that you can use along with or in addition to the self-care activities you choose to support your mental wellness.
By the way, essential oils are not just “oh these are nice” things to use. There’s a lot of science that backs up using aromatherapy as a natural solution tool to support mental health. Without going into all the technical jargon, when an essential oil is inhaled, it travels to the part of our brain where memories and experiences are stored triggering an emotional response. And this happens quickly regardless of whether you inhale essential oils aromatically, apply them topically to the skin, or use them internally.
There are a plethora of other substances and sources we can use to deal with our emotions, however many of them have unpleasant side effects and some even end up hurting us in other ways. Using essential oils for mood management provides a safe, simple, and convenient way to deal with all our complex emotions that are constantly changing.

One of my favorite systems for mental wellness is one I’ve shared about many times before. However, because it’s the perfect trio for your mental wellness toolbox, I’m going to share it again – the doTERRA Adaptiv™ System. Adaptiv is a beautiful blend. Lavender, Magnolia, Neroli, and Sweetgum provide stress-relieving effects. Wild Orange and Spearmint energize and uplift. While Copaiba and Rosemary soothe anxious feelings to round out this calming blend. Whether you’re feeling fatigued or restless, indecisive or irritable, the Adaptiv Calming Blend has you covered.
The Adaptiv Capsules are formulated with slightly different ingredients than the oil blend, with greater bioavailability and helps to calm the stress signal between our Amygdala (which is the part of the brain that interprets events/stress) and our Hypothalamus (which acts on the info received). The capsules also contain 100mg of naturally sourced GABA which has the primary function of responding when our body is under attack. This is the “breaks” of the brain.
As you can see there are lots of ways to support your mental health, from physical self-care activities to aromatherapy and supplementation. Living an intentional natural solutions lifestyle has you covered! If you want to take the conversation deeper and more personal to your specific needs simply
