Self-Care is Healthcare

Self-care is an important part of our natural healthcare. It’s the process of taking an active role in your own health and wellbeing. This is a form of preventive healthcare that can help individuals maintain themselves mentally, emotionally, and physically.

NATURAL HELATHCARE IDEAS:

Exercise Regularly
– aim to move your body at least 20-30 minutes each day.

My favorite form of exercise, aside from walking, is a unique workout using special equipment called G-Nat

Eat a Balanced Diet
- a diet filled with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help ensure you’re fueling your body with great nutrients.

My favorite way to help my body get all the goodies it needs is to supplement with the doTERRA Nutrition line (protein, greens, and fiber).

Get Enough Sleep
– while this is not a one size fits all, the majority of adults need 7-8 hours of sleep each night to help your body and mind rest and recharge.

My favorite tip is to create a bedtime routine that’s filled with small self-care activities that promote a restful night sleep. Oh, and my favorite essential oil blend that will help you fall asleep quickly is doTERRA Serenity® Restful Blend.

Reduce Stress Levels
- take time each day to relax, meditate, and/or practice breathing techniques to help create a sense of peace, calmness, be present in the moment, lower blood pressure and reduce stress.

My favorite essential oil for reducing stress is doTERRA Adaptiv™ System (actually is essential oil and a supplement).

Take Natural Supplements
- probiotics, fish oil, and vitamin D are just some examples of natural supplements that you can take to ensure your body is getting all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients it needs.

My favorite supplement to support overall health and wellness is doTERRA Lifelong Vitality®.

Try Holistic Healing
– there are many natural and holistic healing practices out there, such as acupuncture, reflexology, Reiki (energy healing), muscle testing, and the list goes on.

My favorite holistic healing modality is a natural chiropractor who uses muscle testing and other unique adjustment techniques over the traditional snap-crackle and pop kind of chiropractor.

Stay Hydrated
– I preach this one all the time. It’s so important and super easy, yet many of us fail to drink an adequate amount. Aim to drink half your body weight (lbs) in ounces each day. (Example: 160lbs = 80oz of water).

My favorite tip is to drink 20 ounces first thing in the morning and then use a fun water tracking bottle or a mobile app (like mine, Wellness Spoiled, coming soon!).

Try Aromatherapy
- as if you couldn’t already tell by all my tips, I’m a huge fan of essential oils. Our brains process smells in such a way that it evokes memories and can alter our mood within seconds. Aromatherapy can be used in a multitude of ways with ease every single day.

My best tip is to find an essential oil educator, like myself, who can help guide you because there are so many choices out there. My second tip is to start small – get a diffuser and a couple of pure and trusted essential oils and start diffusing.

When it comes to self-care, it is important to remember that it is not just a one-time thing but rather a lifestyle choice. Self-care can include anything from eating healthy and getting enough sleep to exercising regularly, participating in social activities, and taking time out to relax. It’s important to take the time to practice self-care regularly, as it can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mental health, bring you joy and overall help your health and wellbeing in every facet of your life.

SELF-CARE IDEAS:

Make Time for Yourself - schedule time into your daily life to practice self-care. This can be as simple as taking a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness or spending time doing something you enjoy.

Connect with Yourself - take time to reflect and connect with your inner thoughts and feelings. This can be done through journaling, meditation, or other creative outlets.

Connect with Others - make time to connect with friends and family. Having meaningful conversations and positive relationships can help you stay connected and supported.

Find the Joy – don’t just do something to do it, make sure to take time to do activities that bring you joy. This could be anything from reading a book, enjoying a puzzle, or going on a nature walk.

Take Breaks – frequent short breaks can help you reset, recharge, stay focused and happy.

When you think about self-care as part of your natural healthcare plan, you’ll quickly realize that this lifestyle choice will help you live a healthier and happier life.
