October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a time when the world turns pink, from football fields to coffee cups. But beyond the ribbons and fundraisers lies something even more powerful: awareness that leads to action.

As a holistic health and lifestyle advocate, I believe that true prevention begins long before an illness ever starts — it begins with daily habits, self-care, and listening to what your body’s whispering before it ever needs to shout. So let’s talk about how to support your breast health naturally, with love, laughter, and a few simple routines that can make a lasting difference.
Remembering, prevention isn’t about fear — it’s about showing up for yourself with small, steady acts of kindness.

DON’T IGNORE REALITY
According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during her lifetime – a reminder that awareness and smart daily choices matter.
Now, before you grab your stress oil (which I still recommend π), take heart — survival rates have improved significantly thanks to early detection, healthier lifestyles, and more awareness about prevention. The power of knowledge, combined with mindful daily choices, can quite literally save lives.
Prevention + Early Detection = POWER. Now, let’s talk practical, natural, and doable habits you can you can adopt.

GENTLE DAILY HABITS
The goal isn’t to live in fear but to live aware — to nourish your body in ways that promote balance, reduce toxins, and support optimal hormone function. These are tiny, sustainable rituals that support lymphatic health, hormone balance, and lower toxic load.
πMorning Gratitude + 2-minute Breath (daily, every morning)
Start your day with two minutes of breathwork or a prayer. Lowering stress daily helps keep cortisol in check and supports healthy hormones. Tiny but mighty.
πΏNaturally Level Up: Gratitude Diffuser Blend 2 drops each: Wild Orange, doTERRA Balance® & Frankincense
β¨Dry Brushing (3–5 minutes, 3–4x per week)
Before your shower,
brush upward toward the heart to stimulate lymph flow — especially helpful for underarm and breast lymph pathways. Finish with a light, warming self-massage and a few stretches. Your skin will glow and your lymph will say, “thanks!”
πΏ
Naturally Level Up: To further assist your circulation and/or detoxification add a few drops of
doTERRA MetaPWR® Metabolic Blend or the new (10/2025)
RevitaZen® Detoxification Blend to your brush.
πLymph-Friendly Self-Massage (2–3x per week, 5 minutes)
Massaging helps move stagnant lymph and increase circulation. Using light pressure (enough to gently stretch the skin) and gentle movements. Use a flat hand and massage along the lymph pathways.
Collarbone Area: Place your hand on your collarbone and gently stretch the skin down toward your underarm, then release. Repeat 10-15 times.
Underarm Area: Place your hand under your armpit and massage upward toward your shoulder, gently stretching the skin and releasing. Repeat 10-15 times.
Hip Area: Place your hand on the outside of your hip and stroke upward along the side of your body to your underarm, stretching the skin and releasing. Repeat 10-15 times.
Leg/Arm Massage: Start closer to the heart and work your way down to the hand or foot. Use your fingers to gently stroke the skin in the direction of the lymph flow.
Abdomen: Relax your abdomen with deep breaths, then gently press your fingertips inward and upward between your ribs and navel, releasing gently.
πΏ
Naturally Level Up: Mix a drop of
Frankincense essential oil with fractionated coconut oil and gently massage the area around the breasts and underarms.
π€©Joyful Movement (5x per week, 30 minutes/day) Exercise isn’t just about burning calories — it’s one of the best ways to reduce cancer risk. Just 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week of walking, stretching, or dancing improves lymph flow, balances hormones, and supports immune function.
πΏNaturally Level Up: Get out in nature while you move. Vitamin D is crucial for immune and hormonal health and the fresh air improves respiratory health and oxygen intake.
πEat Colorfully (Every Meal)
A diet rich in cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts), berries, and omega-3 fats supports hormone detoxification and reduces inflammation.
πΏNaturally Level Up: Add ground flaxseed to your smoothies each morning for gentle estrogen support.
π€Sleep & Reset (7–8 hours/night) Good sleep regulates hormones and repair. Aim for consistent bed & wake times.
πΏ
Naturally Level Up: Avoid electronic devices (blue light) at least 1 hour before bed, diffuse
Serenity® or
Adaptiv® essential oil blend 20-30 minutes before bed as a means of helping the mind and body to prepare for sleep. Especially if you struggle with quality sleep, incorporate the
Serenity Sleep System into your nightly routine.
DITCH THE TOXINS
This is where true prevention begins. Toxins are silent hormone hijackers — sneaking into your bloodstream through skin, air, and even clothing. Many contain xenoestrogens, synthetic chemicals that mimic estrogen and confuse your body’s natural balance. Over time, this hormonal chaos can contribute to breast tissue changes and cellular stress.
𧴠Personal Care Products
- Avoid ingredients like parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrance. These are often disguised under the word “fragrance” or “parfum” on labels.
- Swap to clean alternatives like doTERRA’s Peronal Care Lines or DIY solutions that you can see (and control) what ingredients are used.
π§Ό Household Cleaners
- Most conventional cleaners are loaded with VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and synthetic scents.
- DIY your own cleaners with doTERRA On Guard®, vinegar, and water. Or use the ready-made essential oil powered abΕde Line. It’s safer for you, your family, and your lungs.
π Laundry Products
- Dryer sheets and detergents are some of the biggest offenders! They’re filled with petroleum-derived fragrances that cling to fabrics and absorb through skin.
- Switch to unscented or essential oil–based detergents and wool dryer balls with a few drops of your favorite essential oil for a fresh, clean scent. (My household uses both On Guard Laundry Detergent for liquid lovers and abode Laundry Pods)
π₯€ Plastics
- BPA and BPS in plastics mimic estrogen. Avoid microwaving food in plastic containers and switch to glass or stainless steel for food and drinks.
π Makeup
- Many cosmetics contain heavy metals and hormone-disrupting preservatives. Look for clean beauty brands certified as toxin-free or EWG-verified. My makeup consists of Ilia Litmitless Lash Mascara Up and doTERRA Lip Balm. Some other clean beauty brands to consider are: RMS Beauty, Youth to the People, and Tata Harper.
By reducing your toxic load, you free up your body’s detox systems to do what they’re meant to — protect and repair.
Small Daily Habits = Big Long-Term Impact
Here’s a quick daily/weekly rhythm you can adopt:

Awareness doesn’t have to be scary — it can be empowering. It’s about learning how to love your body in the purest, most proactive way. Every small, intentional act of self-care — from a mindful stretch to swapping your deodorant — is a ripple of prevention.
So, this October (and every month after), make sure you’ve got your annual wellness check-up scheduled, along with your mammogram or thermography as recommended by the doc, and double down on the natural habits that keep your body thriving.
