A Thanksgiving Reset

A Thanksgiving Reset: Nourish Your Body, Mind & Home With Simple, Natural Rituals

Thanksgiving is one of the most heart-filled times of the year — a mix of connection, celebration, gratitude, and often… exhaustion. Between cooking, cleaning, hosting, traveling, late nights, full bellies, and full schedules, it’s completely normal to wake up after the holiday feeling a little overstimulated, depleted, or weighed down.

If you’re craving a breath of fresh air after the fullness of the past few days, this post is your invitation to reset — gently, naturally, and intentionally. A reset doesn’t need to be extreme. In fact, the most effective ones are simple and nurturing.

Here are my favorite ways to refresh your body, mind, and home after Thanksgiving so you can move into the rest of the season with clarity, ease, and grounded energy.

NOURISH YOUR BODY WITH KINDNESS
Your body has worked hard this week — emotionally, physically, and digestively — and it deserves care that feels supportive, not restrictive.

Start with Hydration
You should strive for this daily – drinking about half your body weight in ounces, example: 140lbs = 70oz.

You can also reach for warm lemon water or herbal teas (bonus points if you add a drop of doTERRA essential oil), too.

These warm drinks help:
  • reset digestion
  • calm the nervous system
  • relieve bloating
  • restore hydration after salty meals or desserts

Gentle Movement & Stretching
After days of cooking, sitting, traveling, or socializing, your body may feel tight or tense. Slow stretching helps restore circulation, release built-up stress, and bring your body back into balance.

This is also an ideal time to schedule an AromaStretch session. Assisted stretching combined with essential oils is one of the most powerful ways to release tension and help your body transition out of holiday mode. Clients often leave feeling lighter, calmer, and reconnected — a feeling everyone deserves after Thanksgiving.

If you're not local to Colorado or just not ready to give assisted stretching a try add an essential oil to your own stretch routine. An oil like Peppermint will open your airways, give a boost of energy and provide a cooling sensation. If you've got pain points to address I suggest Deep Blue Stick. For a calming, grounding effect use a wood oil or blend like Frankincense or Balance. And for a quick pick-me-up try using a citrus oil (my personal happiness in a bottle is Wild Orange).

Support Your Digestion
Reach for comforting digestive aids like:
Alternatively, if you like using essential oils, you can topically massage a drop of Ginger, DigestZen or Peppermint oil onto your stomach, or add to a warm beverage.

NOURISH YOUR MIND WITH STILLNESS
Your mind has been multitasking all week — planning, preparing, hosting, coordinating, remembering, cooking, and making sure everyone is okay. No wonder you’re tired.
This is your reminder to give your mind peace, not pressure.

Try a 5-Minute Grounding Ritual
Sit quietly with one hand on your chest and the other on your belly. Take slow breaths. Let your shoulders soften. Let your thoughts settle. Even a few minutes will help your nervous system reset.

Write a Gratitude Reflection
Try the prompt: “What moment from this week filled me with the most gratitude?”
Focus on the emotion, not the event. Let it fill you again.

Diffuse Oils for Peace & Emotional Balance
My favorites for a post-holiday mental reset are:
These oils help calm the mind, ease emotional heaviness, and restore a sense of inner stability.

NOURISH YOUR HOME WITH FRESH ENERGY
Your environment affects your mood, clarity, and stress levels — and after hosting or celebrating, your home may be craving a reset too.

Start Small
Pick one area:
  • the kitchen counter
  • your nightstand
  • the entryway
  • a single drawer
Decluttering even one small space creates momentum and signals your brain that things are in order again.

Diffuse a Cleansing Blend
Try:
These combinations freshen the air, lift the energy, and bring a sense of renewal to your home.

Freshen Your Space Naturally
Wipe down surfaces with a simple DIY cleaner using:
  • water
  • distilled vinegar
  • On Guard or Lemon essential oil
Or you can use Abode Multi-Purpose Surface Cleaner spray for a ready-made option. These not only clean your space but infuses it with purifying plant power.

A RESET IS A GIFT — NOT A CHORE
As you move from Thanksgiving into the rest of the holiday season, remember this:
You deserve to feel good — not just push through.

A reset isn’t another task on your list.
It’s an act of love toward your body, your spirit, and your environment.

Give yourself permission to slow down.
To breathe deeper.
To move gently.
To receive support.
And to enter December with clarity, calm, and intention.

If your body is ready for deeper release, grounding, or renewal, I’d love to support you with an AromaStretch session or personalized self-care coaching. You don’t need to navigate holiday stress on your own — you’re supported here.

Here’s to a peaceful, refreshed, and heart-centered start to the rest of the season.
